In our newly renovated barn, separate from our house, we have two fully equipped suites available for your comfort. There’s one delightful two-bedroom suite and another cozy single room suite, each thoughtfully designed with a kitchen, bathroom, dining area, and a spacious living/TV room. Additionally, both suites share access to a convenient laundry facility, ensuring your stay is stress-free.

Moreover, you’ll be delighted to discover our 3000sqft rec-room, which is an absolute haven for fun and relaxation. This expansive space boasts six sets of co-ed bunk beds, each accompanied by its own storage and privacy-enhancing blackout curtains. The rec-room is truly a paradise for entertainment, featuring a large TV lounging area, a well-equipped gym, thrilling games like pool table and shuffleboard, a captivating stage adorned with various musical instruments, arcade games to delight the young at heart, and even aerial silks for those with a flair for acrobatics. To top it all off, we have a magnificent 20-person dining table, inviting you to share delightful meals and memorable moments with newfound friends.

Our location is undeniably unique, as it seamlessly captures the essence of living on a serene rural island while maintaining close connections to larger cities both to the north and south of us. If you’re visiting from the mainland, you’ll be pleased to know that multiple ferry connections are available, making access to our enchanting destination convenient.

However, it’s essential to note that the area does not offer highly reliable public transport. Therefore, to ensure a smooth and tailored arrival experience, we recommend discussing your travel plans with us individually. By doing so, we can provide personalized guidance and assistance, guaranteeing a seamless journey to our captivating haven.

Ideally we’re looking for someone long term who will be joining us for some weeks/months. Thus, we are very flexible in our hosting capacities, so just hit us up and we’ll eventually make it work. 
Work usually starts at 9 o’clock in the morning. However, there are always different tasks throughout the day. Therefore, we are very flexible and it depends on your individual task, how exactly your working hours look like.

This is our second summer living on our property, and we are excited to assemble a dedicated team of individuals to collaborate on the transformative, establishment, and maintenance projects throughout our expansive grounds. From household upkeep and meal preparation to landscaping, light construction, watering, harvesting, and preserving the bounties from our gardens, including canning and freezing, our responsibilities encompass a diverse range of tasks. Additionally, caring for our cherished chickens, ducks, and dairy goats is also part of this fulfilling endeavor.

Duncan, BC, experiences a moderate coastal climate with relatively mild temperatures throughout the year. Here’s a general overview of the weather you can expect in Duncan:

Spring

Spring in Duncan is characterized by mild temperatures, with daytime highs ranging from 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F). Nights can still be cool, so it’s advisable to pack layers, including a light jacket or sweater.

Summer

Summers are warm but not excessively hot. Daytime temperatures typically range from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), making it pleasant for outdoor activities. It’s a good idea to pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and lightweight clothing.

Fall

Fall brings cooler temperatures and a mix of sunny and rainy days. Daytime highs range from 10°C to 18°C (50°F to 64°F). Be prepared for potential rain by bringing a waterproof jacket or umbrella.

Winter

Winters in Duncan are relatively mild compared to other parts of Canada. Daytime temperatures usually range from 5°C to 10°C (41°F to 50°F). While snowfall is infrequent, it’s still a good idea to bring warm clothing, including a coat, gloves, and a hat.

Overall, Duncan experiences a fair amount of rainfall, particularly during the fall and winter months. It’s advisable to pack waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear suitable for wet conditions. Don’t forget to check the weather forecast before your trip to ensure you are adequately prepared.

As the weather can be quite changeable, packing layers that you can easily add or remove will help you stay comfortable throughout your stay on Vancouver Island.

We have chickens and ducks to care for as well as dairy goats, a little dog and cats. 

Usually we work until noon. After that, you have the afternoon free. We often go on excursions together and look forward to exploring the area with you.You will have access to a spare vehicle for your use if you have a drivers license. Of course, weekends are free too! 

We do have plenty of space and could possibly host about 20 other volunteers. Right now we’re comfortable with about 6-8 persons staying with us. There could be 1 or 7 other people. If you want to know what to expect prior to your arrival, just hit us up! 

We are pleased to offer you  amazing high-speed WiFi available in the suites and the barn which is entirely separate from our family’s WiFi at the main house. Along with this, you’ll have convenient access to dedicated laundry facilities and a host of other amenities to cater to your needs throughout your stay.

As said before, we’re pretty flexible in you stay. If you decide to stay longer, we’re sure we find a solution for you.
